06 Nov NOLABA – Orangetheory Fitness to open Louisiana flasgship location in New Orleans

Florida-based retailer expected to expand to multiple Orleans Parish locations in the immediate future
The New Orleans Business Alliance (NOLABA) and Orangetheory Fitness announce the organization’s flagship Louisiana location at 4141 Bienville St., in the Offices at Mid-City Market. Orangetheory will be the first retailer to open in the Offices at Mid-City Market, on N. David Street at Bienville Street. Orangetheory has invested approximately $500,000 to build out the new fitness studio and expects to open with twelve employees in its 3,300 square-foot, custom-designed facility. Offices at Mid-City Market was developed by Stirling Properties which expects multiple other retailers and office tenants to open in the former Loubat Foodservice Equipment building in the coming months.

“We are very excited by the reception we’ve received in New Orleans,” said Elle Mahoney who is the Franchise Area Developer of the Orangetheory Fitness Louisiana territory and owns the New Orleans locations. “Already this store is the top in the nation for pre-opening sales. And we’re really pleased with the pool of applicants we’ve seen for our employee base. Clearly New Orleans was the right decision for our first Louisiana location, and we expect to expand to other sites in the city in the immediate future.”

Started in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Orangetheory is among the fastest-growing franchise retailers in the country. NOLABA worked closely with both Orangetheory Fitness and Stirling Properties to facilitate the opening, shepherding Orangetheory through the city’s permitting process and assisting with various business needs leading up to today’s announcement.

“Orangetheory is a great addition to the city’s retail landscape for several reasons,” said Brenda Canada, director of retail attraction and development for NOLABA. “It’s owned by New Orleans residents, it provides a brand new fitness concept not seen in New Orleans before and it enhances the variety of retailers available at the adjacent Mid-City Market. Mid-City Market has been carefully integrated into the surrounding neighborhood and is expected to continue to prosper with the opening of the Lafitte Greenway. We’re very pleased to welcome Orangetheory and expect to continue to help them become an established contributor to the city’s business community.”

“We’re delighted to introduce Orangetheory to the Mid-City neighborhood,” said Mac Bauer Development Associate at Stirling Properties. “The Offices at Mid-City Market will be a combination of retail and office space and Orangetheory Fitness is a great showpiece to the overall project.”

Mahoney describes the Orangetheory Fitness approach as “fitness meets science, delivered through technology.” Each Orangetheory studio offers one-hour group fitness sessions led by a certified trainer and individually tailored based on an individual’s fitness level. Each participant wears a heart-rate monitor during the session, spending half the time doing cardio and the other half doing strength and power activities to optimize the time spent in the “orange zone” to build lean muscle and burn fat.
