LCMC Health invests in Business Alliance

The nonprofit that will manage University Medical Center once its brought online next year wants to see more economic development efforts targeting the Mid-City medical corridor.

LCMC Health, which also manages Children’s Hospital, Touro Infirmary and Interim LSU Hospital, is making an investment of $100,000 to the New Orleans Business Alliance.

Melissa Ehlinger, the interim president and CEO of the Business Alliance, said the organization has not determined specific plans for how the money from LCMC will be used.

LCMC President Greg Feirn said his organization has a vested interest in the development of the biomedical corridor.

“Our team believes that caring for the community occurs beyond the walls of our hospitals and we are pleased to support the development of the New Orleans health care industry,” he said in a statement.
